Beatboxing, songwriting and recording workshop at City Library


Interested in beatboxing, songwriting and recording techniques?

BrighterSound are running a full days workshop at City Library on Deansgate, which will include a masterclass in electronic and acoustic percussion and a lyric/beatboxing workshop.

Since 2000 Brighter Sound has worked with over 12,000 children and young people, helping them to explore their talent and potential, increasing their skills and confidence levels and supporting their personal, social and creative development, using music as a dynamic and enriching medium for positive change.

Brighter Sound works across the North West, in partnership with Music Education Hubs / Music Services, Youth Services, Local Authorities, Housing Trusts, governement, schools, colleges and other arts organisations, and has delivered over 130 programmes of work in the area since its launch, putting over £1.2m of lottery funds into working with young people and their local communities. Here's a breakdown of the day:


Morning Session - Rhythms and Beats: A rhythmic Masterclass in basic beat-making using electronic and acoustic percussion to explore rhythms from around the globe and create a live backing track.

Afternoon Session - Lyric Writing and Spoken Word: The group will work with a Lyricist / Beatboxer to explore tools and techniques used to develop meaningful lyric writing and to create a set of lyrics to be performed over the backing beats.

Rehearsal Workshop - Both groups will come together to connect the tracks and polish to a performance standard.

Sharing / Recording - The day will culminate with a performance sharing which will be recorded and made available to all participants digitally.
