Guest speakers include:

Local entrepreneur, Simon Swan, co-founder of the Hiring Hub

UK Software Entrepreneur of the Year 2012, 32-year-old Simon launched Hiring-Hub.com in 2011 intent on disrupting Britain’s £25 billion recruitment industry. Named as one of the UK’s Top 100 startups, and included in this year’s Accelerate 250, Hiring-Hub.com has been recognised by Prime Minister David Cameron as one of the most entrepreneurial and innovative new businesses in the UK. The firm recently secured private equity investment and is set grow aggressively to £17m by 2016 from its base in Manchester.

Jo Fairley, co-founder of Green & Black's
In 1991, Jo co-founded the pioneering organic chocolate company Green & Black’s (with her husband Craig Sams) one of the UK’s biggest selling chocolate brands. In 2005, the brand was sold to Cadbury’s, but Jo remains in an ambassadorial role, travelling the world as the brand grows internationally. Jo now runs Judges Bakery - an organic one-stop shop - and The Wellington Centre, an 11-room ‘boutique’ wellbeing centre, in her home town of Hastings. She continues to juggle this with her writing career.

Will King, King of Shaves
The King of Shaves brand was created by Will King in the depths of the UK recession in the early 1990s. Following redundancy, King decided to build his own business, King of Shaves, and his first product was shaving oil, which solved his personal problem with shaving - razor burn. Today, over thirty different King of Shaves brand products are stocked in all major outlets across the UK as well as being available in the USA, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Africa and Brazil.

Laura Tenison, founder of JoJo Maman Bébé

As the founder and Managing Director of JoJo Maman Bébé, Laura has grown the company organically from its start-up in 1993 to become the UK’s foremost niche multi-channel specialist in the pregnancy and baby market. The company, now with 60 stores nationwide, continues to expand both organically in the UK and via trade sales to over 60 countries across the world.

As well as sharing their own experiences, the ‘Marketing Maestros’ will explore both traditional and cutting edge marketing methods, revealing top tips on how to successfully penetrate new markets and turn customers into loyal fans.

Isabel Oswell, Head of Business Development at the British Library’s Business & IP Centre, commented “This is a must-attend event for all small businesses wishing to learn some tried and tested marketing techniques to break into new markets and create an exciting and talked-about brand. In today’s digital marketplace, the cost of reaching your customers is cheaper than ever. Since opening in 2006, the British Library’s Business & IP Centre has provided entrepreneurs with information and expert advice on how to start and grow successful businesses and our marketing masterclasses remains one of our most popular offers.”

Sue Hayes, Managing Director of Barclays Business said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for businesses to be inspired by successful entrepreneurs and learn all about the latest marketing techniques. Growing businesses should aim to seek out as much advice as possible be that from other business owners, the British Library, online or from your bank. Small and Medium Enterprises are the life blood of the British economy and it is programmes like this that can help develop the next big business success stories in the UK.”
